![]() In fact, you were able to leave, eat lunch, and return. In previous years what you paid covered the whole day. When we got our passes, I noticed that there was now a 2 hour time block from 9:30 to 11:30 printed on the pass. She said it was an extra $5 for purchasing a ticket without a reservation. Well, I was surprised because it is supposed to only cost $15 per person. Next, she tells me that for the two girls it would cost $40. In previous years, reservations were not required. ![]() Her first words were, "Do you have a reservation?" I said "no" and she responded that in the future I should make one. When I arrived at the ticket area, I was greeted by a high schooler who acted like she didnt want to be there. I'll admit that I didnt check the website prior to bringing my child and her friend. We've been going to Eagle State Park tubing for the last several years and have always been very pleased, however Gateway, the company that runs the tubing has made some changes since last year. But for walking the dog and letting her run, there's no better park. It's not the park I choose to take my kid's to for playing, nor would this be the park that I throw a birthday party at. We go to Eagle Island almost once a week, but honestly it's for the dog. She loves to just run, sniff, take a dip in the river, and repeat. Most dogs out there are off leash, and we have never had a problem. We are definitely doing that next winter! What we love more than anything is taking our dog out on the trails. In the winter they create a snow hill with a magic carpet to take you to the top. They look like they'd be a blast, but the price is a bit steep so I don't know if we'll ever attempt it. There are picnic shelters you can reserve also. The disc golf course is nice for the first 9 holes, then gets a little overgrown with nearby trees, plants, and naturally growing weeds for the back 9. The waterslide is average at best but for little ones who have never been to a real waterpark, they'll probably love it. Also, if you take a walk around the lake and see where all the slug and gunk float to, it may make you think twice. Seems a lot of people love to get into the lake, but with an outbreak last year where a bunch of people got sick, I personally don't trust it. Amenities include trails, swimming, fishing, volleyball courts, disc golf course, horseshoe pits, and a single waterslide. If not then there is a day use fee.Įagle Island has a lot to offer. If you purchased the state sticker pass with your registration at the DMV then admittance is covered. I do know those areas are frequented by horseback riders and cross country runners.īathrooms with running water are available and dogs on a leash are allowed. There are additional trail patterns that finger out further away from the heart of the park that I have not personally explored. You've just to to be mindful about those throws that are near water, as your disc is a goner if it goes in there in the winter! I personally enjoy walking the length of the course while my hubby and kids toss their discs. We have played a lot of places and this particular course has a lot of different obstacles and challenges that make it fun for all levels of skill play. The favorite year round activity for our family is the 18 hole disc golf course. There is an admittance fee for this attraction, and during busy hours (usually school vacations and weekends) the park does get busy and they do limit the number of people and the length of time you can stay. It's so nice to have such a close offering to make a last minute decision to take the kids to for just a few hours and be back home in no time. In the winter months there is a snow park which has a pretty decent tubing hill. Both of these attractions do require an admittance fee, but the swimming hole is free to all. Additionally, there is a water slide and ziplining available. The rest of the pond area is a great place to paddle out with your kayak, raft or paddle board and enjoy calm waters. There is plenty of grass nearby for those that just want to sit and watch. In the warmer months there is a swimming hole/beach area. My favorite part about this park, is that there are different offerings at various times of the year making it a park that you look forward to visiting year round for a variety of reasons. There are also several covered gazebo areas which you can reserve for a gathering (with bbq pit). There are plenty of walking trails that those of most any ability would be able to tackle and lots of grassy areas with picnic tables and shade to enjoy in the summertime. The setting is more of a flat spacious area, centered around a central oversized pond. ![]() ![]() This particular state park is very different from most others that I have visited. ![]()
